Theoretical evaluation of solar proton-proton fusion reaction rate and its uncertainties

چکیده
The weak proton-proton fusion into a deuteron (2H) is the driving reaction in energy production Sun, as well similar main sequence stars. Its rate solar interior determined only theoretically. Here, we provide new determination of this conditions S11(0), and analyze theoretical experimental sources for uncertainties, using effective field theory Quantum Chromodynamics without explicit pions at next-to-leading order. This prediction procedure verified validated experimentally measured set electromagnetic reactions, which show to be analogous their operator structure properties sector, are reproduced within assessed uncertainty, same approach. We find an enhancement S11 by 1−4% over previously recommended value. change reduces calculated fluxes neutrinos originating 8B 7Be nuclear reactions thus favoring higher abundances metallic photospheric elements, tension between different composition determination, known “Solar Composition Problem”.

The Rate of the Proton-proton Reaction
We re-evaluate the nuclear matrix element for the proton-proton reaction p + p → H + e + νe, which is important for stellar-evolution calculations referring to stars with masses < ∼ 1M⊙ and for the solar-neutrino problem. We selfconsistently determine the effect of vacuum polarization on the matrix element by first correcting the low-energy scattering data to account for vacuum polarization. We...
متن کاملThe Proton-Proton Reaction, Solar Neutrinos, and a Relativistic Field Theoretic Model of the Deuteron
In a series of recent papers, Ivanov et al. and Oberhummer et al. have calculated the rate for the p + p → d + e + νe reaction with a zero-range four-fermion effective interaction and find a result 2.9 times higher than the standard value calculated from non-relativistic potential theory. Their procedure is shown to give a wrong answer because their assumed interaction disagrees with low-energy...

This article is a longer and more complete version of a comment I posted on Nature journal’s website. Go to the article “Supernova 'kaleidoscope' seen for first time” by Maggie McKee (http://www.nature.com/news/supernova-kaleidoscope-seen-for-first-time1.17062) and scroll way down the page to read it. So the best abstract I can think of is to reproduce that comment here. Is gravitational lensin...

Haxton PACS: 21.45.Bc 26.20.Cd 26.65.+t The proton–proton fusion reaction, pp → de+ν , is studied in pionless effective field theory (EFT) with di-baryon fields up to next-to leading order. With the aid of the di-baryon fields, the effective range corrections are naturally resummed up to...
